Lymphatic Drainage
Your lymphatic system plays a vital role throughout your entire body, filtering fluids and protecting against toxins, pathogens, and damaged cells. Because it does not circulate on its own, regular support through movement and lymphatic drainage techniques is essential for long-term health.
At AcuSpa, we specialize in lymphatic health and holistic care. We offer a variety of lymphatic drainage massage options, as well as one-hour consultations to assess your health history and create a personalized care plan tailored to your needs.

What is Lymphatic Drainage?
Lymphatic Drainage Massage (LDM) benefits everyone and is often viewed as essential wellness maintenance. When the body experiences stress or disruption—such as illness, poor diet, medical treatments, cosmetic procedures, or inflammation—the lymphatic system can become sluggish. This stagnation may interfere with proper fluid balance and immune function.
Unlike the circulatory system, which is powered by the heart, the lymphatic system does not have its own pump. It relies on movement and gentle stimulation to circulate lymph fluid. Without proper drainage, this buildup can contribute to inflammation, discomfort, and weakened immune response. In more advanced cases, conditions such as fibrosis may develop. Reducing lymphatic congestion can significantly improve comfort, mobility, and overall well-being—this is where a certified lymphatic massage therapist can make a meaningful difference.
Your session begins with a brief consultation to understand your health history and goals. You will then lie comfortably face-up on a massage table, modestly draped with a sheet. Only the area being treated is uncovered at any time. The room setting is calm and relaxing, with soft lighting and gentle music.
Although it takes place in a massage environment, LDM is very different from deep tissue or Swedish massage. It is a specialized, gentle form of bodywork designed specifically to stimulate the flow of lymph fluid. At AcuSpa, all therapists performing LDM are certified in lymphatic drainage techniques.
The treatment uses light, rhythmic, rotating, and pumping movements, beginning at the collarbone and focusing on key lymph node areas such as the underarms, abdomen, groin, and behind the knees. Because most lymph nodes are located on the front of the body, sessions are typically performed entirely face-up.
Stimulating the lymphatic system also activates the parasympathetic nervous system, encouraging deep relaxation. Many clients drift into sleep during their session.
After your massage, you may feel lighter, less swollen, and more energized. Because LDM supports detoxification, increased urination is common following treatment. Be sure to drink an extra 2–4 cups of water to support hydration and fluid balance.

How frequent should I get a lymphatic massage?
2
Frequency varies. Some people enjoy it occasionally for relaxation, while others schedule it weekly or monthly as part of a wellness routine. There’s no universal schedule — it depends on personal preference and how the body responds.
Does lymphatic drainage massage help with bloating or puffiness?
3
Many people report feeling less puffy or bloated afterward because the technique encourages gentle fluid movement. These effects are usually temporary and vary from person to person, but the massage can feel soothing and light.
How soon will I see results?
4
Some people feel lighter or more relaxed right away, while others notice changes over the next day or two. Because the technique is subtle, results tend to be gradual and depend on hydration, movement, and individual body responses.
